Module 1 of Praxis has ended and I am officially beginning Module 2. We were asked to reflect on the following questions:
Reflecting on Module 1: What’s the biggest thing you learned this month?
The biggest thing I learned this month is it can be hugely beneficial to own your name online. The world is constantly evolving to solve problems more efficiently. Currently, we are in the age of technology, and it is becoming more and more expected to have basic technological and online proficiency. Employers can easily look at your online presence, and it can be advantageous for you to have power over what is shown first. You can showcase your skills and what you have to offer.
What’s the biggest skill you obtained this month?
The biggest skill I obtained was definitely website building. I have previously built one website for a high school tech class, but it was poorly designed and only showcased my terrible Photoshop skills.
If you were to do this month over, what’s one thing you would do differently?
I would attend more Praxis Mondays. Every Monday a little session is held online, where people talk about different aspects of Praxis and career building. I missed a couple of sessions I wish I had gone to.
What component of your work this month are you most proud of?
I'm most proud of my website. I ended up really liking the layout and I think it is good for my "first" website.
What was your biggest struggle this month?
What’s one thing you can change to get more value out of your program experience?
Keeping my mindset in a place that asks "how am I getting value out of this?"
Planning for the Module 2: What component of the upcoming module are you most excited about?
I'm excited to dig deeper into the possible career roles at the start-ups we could be assigned to.
What component of the upcoming module are you most concerned or nervous about?
The interviews. I'm worried about how I'm going to do them and how helpful they are going to be.
What’s the biggest way you intend to challenge yourself/push yourself to go above and beyond?
Getting things done earlier and earlier so I can look back and be proud of myself. Fingers crossed.
What’s the biggest way you hope to grow?
I hope that finding the motivation to do my work will come more naturally and I won't have to hype myself up as much.
Based on any struggles you faced this month, what’s the biggest thing you intend to do next month?
Again, just staying motivated. Getting stuff done isn't really an issue, but wanting to get stuff done is a struggle.
How does the work you're doing next month move you closer to your program goals?
I will hopefully be finding out which role is best suited for me, which will bring me closer to figuring out who and what I want to be.
What does success in the coming month look like to you?
Feeling confident that I am where I'm supposed to be in the program, and looking forward to the next module.
